ABOUT

Neil Losada

 Hi, I'm Neil Losada.

I am a Nationally Accredited Trainer responsible for training Police Dogs and their handlers in a variety of roles. I have been an Approved Trainer and Committee Member with the National Association of Security Dog Users for over 8 years, training and assessing security dogs and their handlers.  Currently hold a City and Guilds qualification in teaching. I am certified by ICOES in Dog Training and Behaviour.

My professional experience spans over 20 years, during which, I have raised, trained and worked Police Dogs in a number of disciplines; including obedience, agility, protection work, tracking and searching for property and people. As an ACPO (now NPCC) Accredited Police Dog Trainer, I trained General Purpose and Firearms Support Police Dogs and also Drugs, Currency, Firearms and Ammunitions Detections Dogs.

I have three times competed in The National Police Dog Finals as well as a variety of Regional and Open Police Dog Competitions. In addition I have successfully competed, organised and judged at a number of civilian and Working Dog competitions. I have trained dogs for film, television and stage, including; X-men First Class, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, an award-winning film by Slackjaw ‘TWINE’, and more recently Puppy Love, Scott and Bailey, DCI Banks and Peaky Blinders.

I have had the pleasure of owning dogs of various breeds for most of my life and I have always enjoyed the usual aspects of pet dog training. However, I began studying canine behaviour in earnest shortly after being given my first Police Dog, Mac, a German Shepherd. Mac had been re-homed due to a number of behavioural issues including serious aggressive tendencies. After learning how to read and understand dog behaviour, I successfully integrated Mac into our family and worked with him until he passed away at seven years old.

Since the birth of Best Behaviour K9, of which I am a co-owner, Director and Principal Trainer and Behaviour Specialist, I have successfully rehabilitated thousands of dogs and provided their owners with the knowledge of how to effectively communicate with their pets. I thoroughly enjoy the new challenges that each and every client and their dog present. Occasionally I find myself being the last chance for some dogs due to their severe behavioural issues. I take great satisfaction helping owners and their dogs to realise their role in life and within the family. I also hold regular group training classes and I am referred to by more local veterinary groups in my area than any other trainer.  I am also privileged to pass on my experience and knowledge to up and coming trainers through my Train the Trainer courses.

It's a Family Affair

Running a successful dog behaviour and training business is hard work.  I am privileged to have been able to do this as a full time job since leaving the Police due to the support and encouragement of my wife and business partner, Claire.  Without her drive, enthusiasm and professionalism this would not be possible.

Alongside dealing with all the background responsibilities of running a business, Claire has spent a lot of time researching, shadowing and studying puppy training and life skills and now helps me with puppy home visits to help our clients build strong foundations for their puppy's development.

 Hi, I'm Claire Losada.

I am Neil's wife and usually the first point of contact for owners requiring help and assistance with their dogs. I am committed to ensuring that all of our clients have the best possible experience during their relationship with us.

My professional experience dealing with members of the public spans over 25 years, during which, I have worked for a prototype and design company, a training provider and have over 20 years working in the Insurance Industry, managing numerous offices and their staff.  I love to offer solutions to people’s needs. I eventually plucked up the courage of setting up my own business, first as a Private Investigator, a job that gave me great satisfaction and excitement all at the same time and then I started my Business Innovation company, helping businesses with administration and offering innovative working practices to assist with their growth.

From childhood I have always dreamt of a career involving dogs and had many ideas for new business ventures, so when I offered to give Neil a hand with enquiries for Best Behaviour K9 I was in my element.  I wasn’t aware of the draw that dealing with dogs has on your life. I began to love the feeling of helping dogs and their owners to build a better relationship. So much so that I decided to follow this dream full time.  To ensure the best service to our clients, I began studying canine behaviour and shadowing Neil..

I have been blessed with owning dogs of various breeds for most of my life and I have always enjoyed training them and the fun that brings. Neil and I currently have 3 dogs, a Belgian Malinois, a Jack-a-Doodle and we also rescued a partially sighted Cocker Spaniel. So dogs are and will always be a huge part of our lives.
